WRES are a welding company based in Poole, Dorset. With a heritage and experience spanning more than 50 years, the company offers a range of precision engineering services including a fabrication and sheet metal work service for diverse industrial sectors for manufacturing facilities in Dorset and Hampshire. They were looking to upgrade their old lathe to a new model.
We spoke to Westley Hamer about the recent service he’d received when purchasing from Selmach.

What led you to purchase a new machine?
We were simply looking to replace our old lathe, which was showing signs of wear and tear.
How did you hear about Selmach and why did you choose them?
We’ve been working with Selmach for many years and my father, Alan Hamer, has built up a good working relationship with them, and has purchased many machines from them in the past.
We chose Selmach again this time because it was a case of the right place at the right time – Alan told them that we were looking for new lathes, and he gave him the specifications, and Selmach found the right machines for us, at the right specification.
What features attracted you to the machine your purchased?
We just wanted to replace like with like, Selmach found the right machine for us.
How have you benefited from the machine? Did it meet your expectations?
The machine is nothing special, but it does what we need it to do.
How have you benefited from using the machine? How has it helped you save time and increase productivity?
I wouldn’t say it has increased productivity, but it has made the work much more reliable.
What are your thoughts on the aftercare and service throughout the process?
Really good – we’ve had issues in the past, but Selmach has resolved these quickly and effectively. We’re very happy with the service we’ve had from Selmach.
