S.W Asgood Engineering, a sheet metal fabricator based in Hampshire, is a family run workshop serving commercial and domestic clients. The company has almost 40 years of experience in the industry. They were on the lookout for new machines that could not only replace existing machinery but could also help increase production. We spoke to Richard Waterman about their recent purchase of a guillotine and a pressbrake.

We’ve seen a 10% increase in turnover and a 20% increase in production since we’ve had the new machines.

What led you to purchase the new machines? What was the challenge or objectives?

With both new machines we were replacing existing ones, but we were also looking to increase the size of the capability to do the job.

How did you hear about Selmach and why did you choose them?

It was timeliness really. They called us on the day we’d decided to go and buy new machines and we liked the way they operated.

What features attracted you to the machine your purchased?

For both it was the ease of the use of the operators. And they were both a good price.

How have you benefited from the machine? Did it meet your expectations?

Both machines have exceeded our expectations and not only that but they have also opened up new avenues of work for us. They have also saved us time in terms of our production processes.

Has it helped you save time and increase productivity? What has been the impact on your business?

I would say that we’ve seen a 10% increase in turnover and a 20% increase in production since we’ve had the new machines.

What are your thoughts on the aftercare and service throughout the process?

It was very good service and aftercare. There were a couple of minor points with both machines in the beginning, but these were dealt with very quickly. The training for using the machines was good. And they were very proactive with the follow up courtesy calls to ensure all was working well.

Any tips/advice to offer other people looking to purchase the same machine?

I would say to go and see the machines in operation in others’ facilities.
