Referencing of CNC Press Brakes when switched off with beam up

Referencing a CNC press brake doesn’t need a degree in computer sciences, don’t worry but there is a procedure to follow to do it safely and correctly, and that procedure varies depending on whether or not your machine’s top beam is in the upper position or not.
So…if for any reason you come across your press brake switched off and with the top beam in the upper position, then following these few simple steps will enable you to return it to the reference point:

  •  First of all place the key to Position one on the electrical cabinet (the three-position key switch) and then press reset on your foot-pedal.
  • Press Manual on the ESA computer’s screen.
  • Press the down foot-pedal carefully until the beam is about 20mm away from the tools crashing.
  •  Press up and Y1 and Y2 axes will then reference.
  • Change back to Key position two on your electrical cabinet and once again press reset on the foot-pedal.
  • Press the Green start button on the ESA Control and the X, R, and Z1, Z2 axes will then all commence the process of referencing one by one, each will light up with a blue dot next to them on the screen to confirm to you that they are referenced.
  • You can enter a programme at this stage or use the last programme then select Semi-Automatic or Fully Automatic and press green start on control, the back gauge will then move to the programmed position.
  •  Press the down pedal and hold in place, the beam will move down about 80mm and will then stop. At this stage your machine is performing a speed test, when completed the beam will then move back up. Don’t let go of the foot pedal until you are sure this process has finished.

Following this step by step guide will ensure that your CNC Morgan Rushworth press brake is now referenced.
